What Sets Us Apart The Jones Difference
Better Products, Better Planet
Every day, we make conscious choices to ensure our business — and our broader ecosystem — is in the best place possible for future generations. These choices include requiring those with whom we work to maintain standards of care and treatment of animals, responsible sourcing and making sure our food is safe for consumers.
These efforts don’t just result in better products, but a better planet, too.
All pork suppliers must pass third-party animal welfare audits, which are compliant with the “Recommended Animal Handling Guidelines and Audit Guide: A Systematic Approach to Animal Welfare,” 2021 edition published by the North American Meat Institute and written by Temple Grandin, Ph.D.
All poultry suppliers must pass third-party welfare audits and follow the National Chicken Council Animal Welfare Guidelines or the National Turkey Federation Animal Care Best Management Practices. Jones does not purchase raw materials from suppliers who do not maintain compliance with these defined standards.
Jones ensures we are partnering with high-quality suppliers through regular audits, ongoing plant inspections, report card documentation, and physical inspection upon receipt.
We believe that by not owning the raw material aspect of the supply chain, we’re able to be highly selective with the suppliers we choose to purchase from. Our ability to choose means a better product for the customer.
Although antibiotics may be given to prevent or treat disease in hogs and poultry in accordance with the FDA guidelines, animals treated with antibiotics are required to have a withdrawal period prior to slaughter to allow for the residues to exit the animal’s system. The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) branch of the USDA randomly samples carcasses at slaughter to test for residues.
Our No Antibiotics Ever products are sourced from animals who have never been given antibiotics.
Federal regulations prohibit the use of hormones in raising hogs and poultry. Animals have naturally occurring hormones that aid in healthy growth, but added hormones are prohibited.
The majority of our meat is sourced from the Midwest, as close to our production site as possible. All raw materials and the carriers that transport them are inspected upon receipt for safety and quality. We value the long-standing relationships we have cultivated with our suppliers. Suppliers are evaluated on an annual basis to ensure adherence to our quality expectations. Jones Dairy Farm sources meat only from USDA-inspected facilities that pass regular third-party audits for food safety, good manufacturing practices, and animal welfare. Auditors, such as FSNS, Meriuex and NSF, follow the standards set by The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) for food safety and good manufacturing practices.
All suppliers of our raw materials must maintain their third-party certification under the GFSI standard for Jones to continue sourcing from that supplier.
Food Safety is our priority at Jones Dairy Farm. We are Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certified under the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing and have an A2LA accredited lab on site. The SQF program, which is recognized by GFSI, is designed to meet industry, customer and regulatory requirements for all sectors of the food supply chain, from the farm to the grocery store.
All Jones Dairy Farm products produced at our manufacturing facility in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin are Certified Gluten-Free by the Gluten-Free Food Program (GFFP). The exception is our scrapple, not produced at our Fort Atkinson plant. Jones became a Certified Gluten-Free facility in 2009. This means that there are no gluten-containing ingredients in our recipes.
More importantly, we complete rigorous testing in our laboratory to ensure no residual gluten is contained within our products. Additionally, Jones Dairy Farm does not add any of the top nine allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish and sesame) to our domestic products. We regularly test to ensure compliance under the FDA Food Allergen Label and Consumer Protection Act.
We take food safety and distinctive quality seriously at Jones, which is why we provide a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all our products.
