Quality Assurance Manager

Jones Dairy Farm, a family owned and operated business for 135 years, is searching for a Quality Assurance Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who excels in communication and seeks to contribute to a dynamic, growing company.

 

Position Summary:

Provide leadership to build the strength of quality systems throughout the plant. Ensure food safety, food security, sanitation, and regulatory compliance (HACCP, GMP, environmental monitoring, product protection, weight control, etc.) are executed properly to JDF expectations. Serve as a Safe Quality Food (SQF) practitioner with the overall responsibility and authority to lead and oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the current SQF code.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and lead all audit functions and make recommendations for corrective and preventive actions necessary to ensure conformity to regulations.
• Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with USDA officials.
• Responsible for overseeing the functions and performance of the Plant QA and Regulatory Affairs Staff; hire and train new and existing personnel in the department for professional development.
• Act as a HACCP Core Team member responsible for annual HACCP assessments.
• Effectively communicate with the Director of Quality Assurance, Manufacturing personnel, and department staff.
• Act as a Safe Quality Food (SQF) practitioner with the overall responsibility and authority to lead and oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the current SQF code.
• Identify and execute cost savings.
• Perform root cause analysis for customer complaints and HACCP failures.
• Aid and serve on Company cross-functional teams within the company as needed
• Serve as back-up for QA Director; is backed up by QA Supervisor and Regulatory Affairs Supervisor.
• Flexible hours with weekend work.
• Minimal travel and overnight travel.
• Accept special projects and complete them promptly.

 

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must enjoy interacting with consumers and effectively represent the Jones Dairy Farm brand.
• Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Highly organized and self-motivated individual with strong time management and relationship-building skills.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and appropriate driving record.
• Must be able to communicate professionally using a mobile device.
• Strong computer skills with high proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Meat Science

Experience or Training: 10 years of experience in Quality Assurance management in the food industry. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Development and management of critical food safety and quality systems (HACCP, SQF, Organic, USDA regulations).

Licenses/Certifications: SQF and HACCP certified

Technology/Equipment: Strong computer skills with a high-level proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).

 

Physical Requirements:

Visual and manual dexterity to operate all office equipment efficiently. Requires continuous walking, bending, stooping, reach above shoulders, standing, sitting, talking, hearing, finger manipulation with exposure to cold, hot, damp and noisy environment. Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. required.
