Honorable Order of the Golden Toque Inducts Philip Jones as Honorary Member
Chalk up another extraordinary culinary honor to Jones Dairy Farm Chairman and CEO Philip Jones, who was recently inducted as an Honorary Member to the Honorable Order of the Golden Toque, a fraternal group of dedicated and accomplished culinarians. This exclusive lifetime membership is restricted to 100 Active members, 25 Senior Active members and 15 Honorary members.
Golden Toque means Golden Chefs Hat and The Honorable Order is the highest acclaimed recognition a Chef can receive in the United States. The recognition can be bestowed to chefs from all segments of the culinary profession who “have at least twenty years’ service, have achieved professional attainment of high estate, have an abiding interest in professional progress, and have demonstrated devoted and distinguished service to the Culinary Profession and Arts.” Included in this group are industry leading foodservice purveyors and associates.
Grand Commander Scott Gilbert, left, welcomes Philip Jones as an Honorary Member.
John Bogacki, certified executive chef (CEC), certified culinary educator (CCE), American Academy of Chefs (AAC), and Commander Ex Officio of the Order, was proud to be Philip’s main sponsor in the nomination process as an Honorary Member. Said John, “I have known Philp for many years as we worked together in the club industry in the 1980’s. The main mission of our group is to promote the development of young culinarians and to advance the knowledge of the foodservice industry. Philip has exceeded expectations on both counts through Jones Dairy Farm’s awarding of more than 150 scholarships to culinary students as well as his involvement on advisory boards and overall contributions to our industry. He will be an incredible asset to our organization.”
After nominations are received, a screening process is conducted through the Acceptance Committee composed of past Grand Commanders and the Board of Directors. Final acceptance must be granted by the membership at the Annual Meeting. Philip was inducted at a ceremony held at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas this past summer.
The “Golden Toque” was originally founded in France and brought to this country by Chef Pierre Berard. It is registered in the United States Patent Office as The Honorable Order of the Golden Toque founded in 1961. According to the organization’s website, membership in the Honorable Order of The Golden Toque is indicative of a lifetime of dedication to the pursuit of excellence in The Culinary Arts.
