Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a skillet, over medium heat, par cook meatballs in 1 cup of marinara sauce until warm, about 7-8 minutes.
Cut each roll, not all the way through, leaving the top and bottom connected. Arrange in a greased 13×9 inch baking dish. Line with parchment paper, if desired.
Place half of the cheese slices over the bottom of the rolls and sprinkle with oregano. Add the meatballs coated in marinara sauce, one meatball per bun. Top each bun with the remaining cheese slices.
Combine the butter, olive oil, garlic, Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes and brush over the tops of the buns.
Bake covered for about 6 minutes, or until cheese is slightly melted. Uncover and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and shredded parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes, until cheese on top is melted. Sprinkle with fresh basil before serving.
Note: These sliders can be scaled up by using larger sized buns and including more than one meatball per slider. For a fun twist, make them pizza style by adding pepperoni!
